Ballet “the snow maiden” was created by the outstanding choreographer Vladimir Burmeister at the request of the London festival ballet, and in 1963 transferred to the stage of Music theatre. Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko. The plot is based on eponymous play by A. N. Ostrovsky. The score of the ballet are collected from various popular works by Tchaikovsky: incidental music to Ostrovsky’s fairy tale, as well as Symphony No. 1 (“Winter daydreams”), Serenade for strings, piano sonatas, etc. In 2001 he created a new stage version of the play. The changes were primarily design for the ballet, which has become more modern. In December 2001, “the snow maiden” was shown during the theater performances in London. The success of the tour exceeded all expectations, and the influential newspaper “the independent” called them one of the main cultural events of the season.
